On Thursday 1st February 2024, University of Lincoln Business & Entrepreneurship students headed to London to visit Microsoft’s Headquarters in Paddington.
The visit was part of second and third-year Enterprise modules delivered in collaboration with the University of Lincoln’s Student Enterprise Service, which offers students opportunities to explore their business ideas or products in a real-life market scenario.
The trip included guest talks and career discussions from the team at Microsoft, offering insights into the cutting-edge world of artificial intelligence (AI) and disruptive technology adopted by businesses globally to drive innovation. Following these sessions, students pitched their ideas to Microsoft senior leaders as part of a Dragon’s Den-style business innovation challenge.
Reece Leggett, the Module Leader and Student Enterprise Manager at the University of Lincoln, shared,
“Our students had an amazing experience on this trip. Many of them are actively running or exploring their business ideas, and the opportunity to dive into the evolving technology landscape, particularly in AI, was invaluable. It was fantastic to see the impactful work Microsoft is doing to drive innovation in business, showcasing the immense potential of the tools at the disposal of start-up businesses. A special thank you to Matt Jones from Microsoft, who hosted us. We look forward to visiting again in the future.”
We would like to thank Microsoft for their hospitality in welcoming both our Business & Entrepreneurship students and Student Enterprise staff. It is a rare privilege to able to gain access to companies the size of Microsoft and we are continually grateful for their willing and support to provide our students with such a valuable insight into one of the world’s largest companies.
Trips such as our visits to Microsoft and previous excursion to Jaguar Range Rover in 2023 are ways in which the University of Lincoln is committed to providing a first-rate experience for all students.
