The University of Lincoln is delighted to launch the Female Founders Graduate Accelerator programme, aimed at addressing the critical start-up support & funding gap faced by female entrepreneurs in the UK.
In the UK, female entrepreneur teams receive less than 1p for every £1 of venture capital investment, a glaring discrepancy compared to the 89p for all-male teams (British Business Bank VC Female Founders Report).
Starting in March 2024, this accelerator programme is here to support graduates, guiding them through the ins and outs of starting their own business or freelancing. Additionally, participants will be able to access grant funding to help them with those crucial start-up and scale costs.
Laurel Kavanagh, Student Enterprise Officer at The University of Lincoln, commented: “The Female Founders Graduate Accelerator at the University of Lincoln is a game-changer for our graduates. The programme offers tailored support to ensure our brilliant female graduate entrepreneurs have the tools and funding to thrive in the business world”
Delivering the accelerator support sessions is Rebecca Oxborough from Thrive Training. Rebecca is an experienced business mentor and accomplished female entrepreneur with first-hand experience navigating the complexities of fundraising for her own ventures.
On the announcement of the Accelerator, Rebecca remarked: “As a female entrepreneur who has navigated the journey of raising investment for my own ventures, I am thrilled to be part of the Female Founders Graduate Accelerator at the University of Lincoln. By providing bespoke support, we’re not just closing the gaps in start-up funding, but empowering the next generation of female entrepreneurs to break barriers, thrive, and build successful businesses.’’
Please note that the full eligibility criteria are located within the application form; however, please be aware that this programme is for University of Lincoln graduates within the last three years who must not be currently trading as a business and must be legally able to set up a business in the UK
